Women in Film

GOOD TO GO originally military speak for "Ready for Action" and NASA speak for "All Set" (presumably just prior to Lift-Off) and more general parlance of having met a a certain set of conditions and being ready to proceed.

ONE SHEET: a single page description of the plot, characters, and action of the film, used for pitching the idea.

SCRIPT: the detailed written version of the film or televsion program, including dialogue and narration, and brief description of characters, settings, action, and sound effects. The final version of the script is called the shooting script. More here! And if you want more terminology, go here.

TREATMENT: a narrative synopsis of a screenplay, including descriptions of characters, the plot in which they are involved and perhaps some dialogue. Here is some more info.

SCREENWRITER: the person responsible for writing the various stages of the script.

PRODUCER: the person in charge of all the financial and creative aspects of a film production, from the initial planning to the bitter end.

DIRECTOR: the person responsible for taking the words of the script and translating them to film and sometimes for the vision and realization of the final product. Examples include Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, and Clint Eastwood.

THE PITCH the process of selling an idea to a tv station or movie studio, "Pitching" your idea, which can be a very scary process...

MOW or Movie of the Week is a feature length film that is made for television only; it will not have a "theatrical release" in cinemas (the Holy Grail for film makers!).

ACADEMY LEADER the piece of film attached to the begining of each reel that protects the film and allows the projectionist to thread the reel; its the one with the numbers that count down.
