The Short List

CHUM television station AChannel Victoria surprised area filmmakers with an incredible opportunity: a chance to make a feature length film and a million dollars to make it with.  From the avalanche of entries, one team will be chosen.  The initiative is called the Reel Edge Project. 

Only one team will win.

As deadline day arrives, so do the packages, which contain not only movie proposals, but also the hopes and dreams of each team.

Proposals arrive throughout the day, often hand-delivered by hopeful producers, writers or directors

Step one is to get the list of hopefuls down to a manageable size.  Proposals are assessed one by one.  After three weeks, the list has been pared to eight contenders

Pitch Day
Hope, anticipation and anxiety in equal measure, as producers and their teams gather for their chance to impress the selection committee, their shot at a million bucks.

Each team is led by a producer; each producer is accompanied by a director, writer, co-producer, assistant, or some combination of the above, as they prepare to face the selection committe.
